Authentic Methi Lachchha Paratha Recipe
Ingredients
- whole wheat flour 2 cups
- finely chopped methi leaves 1 cup
- cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
- coriander seeds 1 teaspoon
- fennel seeds 1 teaspoon
- ajwain seeds 1 teaspoon
- salt 1 teaspoon
- Water (as needed)
- Oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- To start, mix the whole wheat flour, methi leaves, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, ajwain seeds, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Gradually add water and knead the mixture until it forms a soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set it aside for 15-20 minutes to rest.
- Next, divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Roll out each ball into a thin circle using a rolling pin. Heat a griddle or pan over medium heat, and brush a little oil on it. Place one of the rolled out parathas on the griddle and cook it for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until it becomes golden brown and crispy. Repeat the process for the remaining parathas.
- Serve the methi lachchha parathas hot, with a side of yogurt or pickle. They can also be enjoyed with a cup of chai or coffee for a delicious breakfast or snack.
